Role: Motion Design, Creative Direction, Delivery
Client / Partner: KOKO London (with in-house creative)
Brief
Create a thumb-stopping announcement that nods to vintage jazz posters and analog motion (lava lamp, scanlines, grain) while working as a flexible toolkit for social and screens.
What I did
Creative direction & look development: aligned the retro concept with KOKO’s brand; aligned moodboards and styleframes exploring halftone textures, retro line patterns, and warm analog palettes; refined typography and spacing.
Motion language: developed fluid, lava-lamp-like transitions and looping backgrounds; layered textured lines and light scanlines for a tactile, archival feel.
Format system: templated multiple layouts with type-safe margins and alternate crops for stories, reels, grid, and screens.
Versioning: headline + date/venue lockups; animated title cards, looping backgrounds, and end slates for quick reuse by the social team.
Technical highlights
After Effects (procedural noise/warp rigs, halftone & grain stacks, animated masks, posterize-time accents). Color-managed renders and codec presets per platform.
Deliverables
Master announce + cutdowns in 9:16 / 4:5 / 1:1 / 16:9.
Outcome
A distinctive, retro-modern announce package that stands out in feed, reads instantly as KOKO, and gives the team a reusable motion system for heritage/jazz announcements.
